In the heart of the Cristoforo Colombo area, between Garbatella and EUR, a new residential settlement is taking shape that responds to housing needs and presents itself as a sustainable urban regeneration model, integrating nature, architecture and community in a dynamic balance. The new masterplan redefines the relationship between city, landscape and infrastructure, transforming a fragmented urban space into an organic and connected system.

The intervention integrates the existing fabric through a network of green axes and vegetal infrastructures that shape the crossings and define a multifunctional urban park, conceived as a green lung and place of aggregation. The arboreal buffer along Via Colombo mitigates the urban impact and dialogues with public spaces, squares and paths, promoting sustainable mobility and neighbourhood life.

The project was conceived with a clear vision: to create a family-friendly environment, focusing on sociality and neighbourhood identity. Tormarancia, which has always been considered peripheral to the better known Garbatella, has started a redemption process thanks to public art initiatives that have strengthened the sense of belonging. The new settlement continues this process, offering well-designed and accessible public spaces designed to stimulate encounters and active participation.

In addition to the social dimension, the project focuses on environmental sustainability. It uses environmentally friendly materials, energy-efficient solutions, and a bioclimatic design that improves the liveability of spaces. Integrating green areas and pedestrian paths strengthens the connection between inhabitants, promoting sustainable mobility and reducing dependence on private vehicles.

Green spaces take on an active role, combining ecological, social, and educational functions, with urban gardens, play areas, and a water basin that contribute to a livable and evolving neighbourhood. The masterplan enhances the local landscape, transforming vegetation into an identity element that improves air quality, climatic comfort and the community's sense of belonging, helping to define a sense of place.
